‘Violins of Hope Louisville’ tells story of traveling exhibit of musical instruments that capture the horrors of the Holocaust

For Release: 04/20/22 8:34 AM

A collection of more than 50 restored instruments played by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust, known as The Violins of Hope, has survived concentration camps, pogroms and many long journeys. It’s also traveled the world as an exhibit, giving voice to the horrors of the Holocaust and telling remarkable stories of injustice, suffering, resilience and survival.

Violins of Hope Louisville: Connecting the Past to the Present is an independently produced film by Michael Fitzer and 180 Degrees Film Productions that tells the story of The Violins of Hope’s arrival in Louisville in the fall of 2019 and the impact the exhibit had on students from Floyd County High School during their visit to the Frazier History Museum.

Violins of Hope Louisville: Connecting the Past to the Present airs Monday, April 25, at 9/8 pm on KET.
