This week’s Connections with Renee Shaw features UK HealthCare Chief Medical Officer Dr. Phillip Chang. The program airs Friday, Oct. 6 at 5/4 pm on KET2 and Sunday, Oct. 8 at 1:30/12:30 pm on KET.

As a trauma surgeon, Chang was impacted by a particular incident that made him rethink protocols for treating acute pain. Believing that substance use disorders aren’t just for addiction specialists to deal with, he is helping doctors and hospitals be part of the solution to the nation’s opioid crisis by minimizing prescriptions to powerful narcotics.
