New KET documentary spotlights Don and Mira Ball

For Release: 07/02/18 1:20 PM

Through both business and philanthropy, Don and Mira Ball have forever changed the face of the Commonwealth. A new KET documentary, Building Hope: The Don and Mira Ball Story, spotlights the couple, who founded Lexington-based Ball Homes. The program airs Friday, July 27 at 9/8 pm on KET.

In addition to creating a thriving home-building business, Don and Mira Ball were tireless in their volunteerism and philanthropy. The documentary showcases their efforts to dedicate their time, talents and treasure in support of others—from their service on boards of various universities and charitable organizations to their hospitality in sharing their home, Donamire Farm, to host many nonprofit fundraisers, including KET’s own long-running Summer Celebration.

The program features interviews with both Mira and Don Ball. Additionally, colleagues and friends—including former Gov. Steve Beshear; former Gov. Ernie Fletcher; former University of Kentucky president Lee Todd; P.G. Peeples, president of the Urban League of Fayette County; and others—share their impressions of the couple and their work to better the lives of central Kentuckians.

Building Hope: The Don and Mira Ball Story is a KET production, produced by Justin Allen.
