KET to broadcast and stream live coverage of SOAR Summit 2017 from Pikeville on August 4

KET will broadcast and stream live coverage of the upcoming SOAR (Shaping Our Appalachian Region) Summit 2017 at the East Kentucky Expo Center in Pikeville on Friday, Aug. 4.

SOAR’s “Building a 21st Century Appalachia” Summit will be broadcast live on the KET KY channel and via live online streaming at KET.org/live and on Facebook Live (facebook.com/KET) from 9/8 am to noon/11 am on Aug. 4. Following the event, coverage will be archived for streaming at KET.org. Viewers can also watch highlights of the summit in a program, hosted by KET’s Renee Shaw, airing Monday, Aug. 7 at 8:30/7:30 pm on KET.

This year’s summit will feature Congressman Hal Rogers and Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin, SOAR co-chairs, as well as remarks from Jared Arnett, executive director of SOAR.

John Calipari, men’s basketball coach at the University of Kentucky will be the event’s keynote speaker.

The summit will also feature presentations from Phillip Brown, executive director of the Kentucky Communications Network Authority (KCNA); John Stephenson, senior manager of public policy for Amazon Web Services; and Joan Ferrini-Mundy, chief operating officer of the National Science Foundation.
