KET to air Andrea Bocelli’s solo concert special and Austin City Limits tribute to John Prine

For Release: 04/15/20 10:07 AM

KET will present two special music concerts this Saturday: an uplifting solo concert by Andrea Bocelli and an Austin City Limits special performance from the late John Prine.

Andrea Bocelli: Music for Hope – A Great Performances Special airs Saturday, April 18, at 8/7 pm on KET.

Austin City Limits – John Prine airs Saturday, April 18, at 11/10 pm on KET.

With the Italian city of Milan under lockdown due to COVID-19, tenor Andrea Bocelli performed a special concert from the city’s empty Duomo di Milano cathedral on Easter Sunday, accompanied only by an organist. The performance was a global phenomenon, drawing more than 31 million YouTube views in the first 24 hours.

Singer-songwriter John Prine, who died April 7 from complications related to COVID-19, was one of Austin City Limits’ most frequent guests, performing eight times on the program during his career. In this episode, which originally aired in 2018, Prine performs songs from his critically-acclaimed album, The Tree of Forgiveness, as well as many of his other classics.
