You’re invited to a special virtual screening of POV: Portraits and Dreams, a documentary about photographer Wendy Ewald’s collaboration in the 1970s with students from Letcher County and the impact the experience had on their lives.

The virtual screening is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17, at 7/6 pm. The screening features an introduction from one of the film’s producers and a Q&A session following the film. Thirty-five years ago, Ewald published the book, Portraits and Dreams: Photographs and Stories by Children of the Appalachians, a collaboration between her and her Letcher County students. She asked them to photograph the things closest to them, including their hopes and dreams. “It opened up a whole new way of making pictures for them,” Ewald said.

In POV: Portraits and Dreams, Ewald returns to Eastern Kentucky to visit her former students and discover how their lives have changed.
