KET offers comprehensive coverage of 2016 legislative session

KET’s extensive television broadcast and online coverage will keep viewers well-informed during the 2016 Kentucky legislative session, Jan. 5 – April 12.

Senate and House chamber sessions and committee meetings can be watched live on:

  • The Kentucky Channel, KET KY (over-the-air and cable statewide)
  • KET.org/legislature
  • KET – Kentucky Legislative Coverage App for iPhone and iPad (free download from the Apple App Store)
  • Frankfort Plant Board Cable TV
  • Capitol building and annex in-house cable system

Legislative Update airs at 11/10 pm on KET and KET.org/live each weeknight the legislature is in session, with Renee Shaw reporting the most significant activities of the day’s legislative proceedings – including debate and votes on the floor of the Senate and House of Representatives as well as committee testimony and actions.

KET will stream live coverage of the 21st Annual Kentucky Chamber Day on Thursday, Jan. 7 on KET.org/live. This year’s Chamber Day event will draw business leaders from across Kentucky to hear Governor Matthew Bevin and the state’s top legislative leaders share their visions for Kentucky. KET’s Bill Goodman will anchor KET’s Chamber Day highlights coverage, airing Monday, Jan. 11 at 10/9 pm on KET.

Throughout the legislative session, journalists covering the General Assembly will discuss the week’s news on Comment on Kentucky, hosted by Bill Bryant, which airs Fridays at 8/7 pm on KET and KET.org/live.

Host Bill Goodman and policymakers will address the top issues being deliberated during the 2016 General Assembly on Kentucky Tonight, airing Mondays at 8/7 pm on KET and KET.org/live. And, Goodman will discuss priority issues in this year’s session with key legislative and policy leaders on upcoming episodes of One to One will Bill Goodman, which airs Sundays at 1 pm/noon on KET. Scheduled One to One guests include:

  • Jan. 3: Senate President Robert Stivers
  • Jan. 10: Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (discussing U.S. policy at home and abroad)
  • Jan. 17: House Speaker Greg Stumbo
  • Jan. 24: Robert King, president, Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education
  • Jan. 31: Dave Adkisson, president of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, and Jason Bailey, executive director, Kentucky Center for Economic Policy
