KET hosts free ‘Be My Neighbor’ event in Louisville
For Release: 08/23/18 12:53 PM
Families are invited to join KET at Woodland Pavilion in Louisville’s Broad Run Park for the free “Be My Neighbor Day,” which builds on values and themes presented in the PBS KIDS series Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.
The event will be held Sunday, Sept. 30 from 1 to 4 pm. Registration is required at KET.org/neighborday.
This unique event offers families the chance to enjoy nature walks, crafts, storytelling sessions and meet-and-greets with caring neighbors, including Louisville-area first responders and other community helpers, such as librarians, postal workers and more. Daniel Tiger and Katrina Kittycat will also make a special appearance. Additionally, children can receive a free tree seedling at the event, which they can take back to their own neighborhoods to plant.
This year’s event will also include a Fred Rogers Sweater Drive, in honor of the 50th anniversary of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and KET. Attendees are invited to donate gently used sweaters, which will then be distributed to those in need.
The Louisville “Be My Neighbor Day” is supported by PNC Grow Up Great® and organized by KET in partnership with the Fred Rogers Company, producers of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.
