For Release: 08/28/17 4:03 PM
Prior to the Sept. 17 premiere of the new Ken Burns documentary on the Vietnam War, KET is presenting an encore airing of its 2017 Ohio Valley Chapter Regional Emmy® Award-winning documentary Kentucky Veterans of the Vietnam War: In Their Own Words.
Airing Monday, Sept. 4 at 8/7 pm on KET, Kentucky Veterans of the Vietnam War: In Their Own Words shares the personal stories of more than 40 Kentucky Vietnam veterans, who recount their harrowing experience on the front lines of combat. Via interviews, archival photographs and home movies, the program explores the intimate, ground-level experiences of Kentucky troops in Vietnam. The program is narrated by Nick Clooney.
“These soldiers are proud of their service, but they often felt that they were not appreciated for putting on the uniform of their country,” said KET’s Tom Bickel, producer of the documentary. “It was an honor to help them tell the story so many Americans have not heard.”
The film is also available for online streaming at KET.org.
