Tonya Crum has been named KET’s new Senior Director of Education. She assumed her new role in late June, following the retirement of former KET Senior Education Director Nancy Carpenter.
Formerly KET’s Director of Adult Education and Workforce Development, a role she’d held since 2003, Crum has extensive experience in developing and implementing products and services for adult learners. Before joining KET in 2003, Crum held positions as a professional development consultant and as a training and development coordinator for Kentucky Adult Education.
“Tonya has been a tireless advocate and a key project leader for the development and implementation of KET’s highly successful Fast Forward GED® test-preparation system,” said Shae Hopkins, KET’s executive director and CEO. “In her new position Tonya will be responsible for leading KET’s services in Early Childhood, K-12, Distance Learning, Professional Development and Adult Education & Workforce Development. We look forward to working with Tonya in this new role to further KET’s educational mission and services.”
Crum is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University’s Department of Communications, which honored her as one of its Distinguished Alumni in 2014. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Instructional Systems Design from the University of Kentucky. She currently serves as vice-chair of the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) Education Council and is a former president and board member of the Eastern Kentucky University International Alumni Association.
