‘Kentucky Health’ discusses smoking’s impact on the Commonwealth

For Release: 01/13/21 10:37 AM

Kentucky leads the nation in lung cancer deaths, most of which can be attributed to smoking. Dr. Wayne Tuckson talks with Bonnie Hackbarth of the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky about why Kentucky’s smoking rates are so high, how e-cigarettes are addicting another generation to nicotine and the need for effective smoke-free laws.

The episode Kentucky Health: Visualizing a Smoke-free Kentucky airs Sunday, Jan. 17, at 12:30 pm/11:30 am on KET and Monday, Jan. 18, at 2/1 pm on KET2.

Kentucky Health is a weekly KET program that seeks to improve the people’s health through education and increased awareness. Kentucky Health is hosted by Dr. Wayne Tuckson, a colorectal surgeon in Louisville, and produced by Laura Krueger.
