Community organizations awarded grants to lead STEM-oriented family workshops and children’s day camps

For Release: 02/01/22 10:01 AM

A dozen community organizations in Kentucky recently were awarded grants through KET to help them lead family community learning workshops and children’s day camps later this year.

The workshops and camps, which incorporate popular PBS KIDS programs and characters, aim to help children and families explore STEM-related subjects. The family community learning workshops are open to entire families (those with children ages 3-8 in mind) and include four sessions. The day camps, which unfold over five days, are geared toward children in elementary school, ages 5-10.

The grants, funded through a donor who asked to remain anonymous, are designed to help the community organizations offset implementation costs associated with the workshop and camps, covering things such as meals, materials and advertising. Additionally, KET education consultants will furnish training to the community organizations.
