The Kentucky Medical Association (KMA) awarded Dr. Wayne Tuckson its 2018 Community Service Award at the group’s August annual meeting in recognition of his work as creator and longtime host of KET’s Kentucky Health.
In its thirteen-year tenure, the weekly health series has educated viewers about an array of topics, including colon and prostate cancer, AIDS and HIV, Alzheimer’s Disease, depression, heart health, end-of-life decisions and more.
According to the KMA, the award recognizes a physician who has made significant contributions to his or her community. In his work on Kentucky Health, Tuckson’s “passion for improving the health of his community” is evident, the KMA said in announcing the award.
“What Dr. Tuckson really tries to do is to make Kentucky Health feel like you have the chance to sit down with a doctor and pick his or her brain on any issue you are interested in,” said KET’s Laura Krueger, producer of the series.
