Christopher C. Reid, CEO, president and chairman of Independence Bank, has been appointed to the Commonwealth Fund for KET’s statewide board of directors.

Reid, of Owensboro, has served the bank since 1975 and became its second-generation CEO 26 years ago. He also serves as a board member for the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and Commonwealth Seed Capital.

A graduate of Brescia University, the ABA Graduate School of Commercial Lending at the University of Oklahoma and the ABA Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, Reid has helped lead Independence Bank toward its status as a leading community bank, which is routinely ranked among Kentucky’s “Best Places to Work.” Independence Bank is headquartered in Owensboro, with 24 locations across the state.

“Chris is joining an esteemed group of dedicated, passionate and generous leaders from across the state who believe in the mission of KET,” said Michele Ripley, president of the Commonwealth Fund for KET. “We look forward to learning from his leadership and counsel.”

The Commonwealth Fund for KET advances the mission and services of KET by raising and managing private contributions and grants that support KET’s broadcast programs and educational and community services.
